Karl T. “Ted” Abegg, 84, McLouth, died Sunday, March 1, 2020 at his home. Karl was born September 9, 1935 at Perth Amboy, N.J., the son of Klaus and Miriam Anna Elizabeth Fork Abegg. He was a 1953 graduate of Lawrence High School. Karl worked as an Electrical Technician for many years, retiring from King Radio. He formerly worked at the Honeywell Company. He enjoyed and was an avid Ham Radio Operator with a call letters of KOMFI. Karl served two terms as a City Councilman of McLouth and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was married to Marian Jones in December of 1955. They later divorced. He married Muriel “Bea” Bernice Bates Lash on January 1, 1979 McLouth. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2015. Survivors include two sons, Geoffrey (Brenda Walsh) Abegg, Lawrence, Daniel (Mendi) Abegg, Osawatomie, three daughters, Anne (Mike) Annis, Lisa Abegg, and Heidi (Frank) Abegg Bartels, all of Lawrence, one brother, Roger Abegg, Cupertino, CA, one sister, Barbara Ennis, British Colunbia, five step-children, Patti (Roger) Brown, Perry, Susan Lash, Bolivar, MO, Donna Wolff, McLouth, Mark (Liz) Lash, McLouth, Leslie (Rob) White, Overland Park, 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, 17 step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Abegg.
**Memorial Service will be 6:00 PM, Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Visitation 4:00 to 6:00 PM, before service.** In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation or to Jefferson County Humane Society in care of Barnett Family Funeral home/Jefferson County Crematory, P.O. Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS, 66066.
