John Evan Clynick perished on the Princess Alice steamboat disaster in the River Thames near Woolrich. This was the largest maritime disaster in the UK with approx 600 passengers who perished when a ship transporting coal struck the steamboat, severing in half. Many bodies were up recovered and some were not identified.
