Delbert 'Nyle' Kinghorn was born on a snowy spring day on April 5, 1936 in the small town of Rigby, Idaho. He lived a happy and fulfilling life working and surrounded by family. At the start of a new year and a new decade on Wednesday, January 1st, 2020 our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Nyle Kinghorn, passed away due to a tragic fall. The fall occurred on December 30, 2019 at the age of 83. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by family at Harborview Medical Center, located in Seattle, Washington.
Nyle grew up on a small family-owned farm in Lewisville, Idaho. There he developed a great love of tractors and manual labor. He graduated from Rigby High School in May of 1954. After graduation, he served a mission in Western Canada for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Upon returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Susan Tucker from Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were married on August 6th, 1959, in the Idaho Falls Temple and were married for 60 years. He attended Brigham Young University, where he later graduated in 1961, with a degree in Business Management. He would forever become be one of BYU's biggest sports fans.
After graduating from BYU, Nyle landed a job selling insurance for Mutual of New York (M.O.N.Y) where he worked for 32 years. This job brought him and his family to Seattle, Washington where he resided for the remainder of his life.
Nyle suffered from major health issues and was forced to retire at age 56, however, this didn't stop him from continuing to work day in and day out on his property in Redmond, WA. He loved working on his small farm, out in the garden, and being on his tractor.
Nyle dedicated much of his time and service to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in a variety of leadership positions. Together with his wife Susan, they served four proselyting missions (London, England; Nauvoo, Illinois; Seattle, and Everett Washington). They also spent 30 years serving in the Seattle, Washington Temple where he was a sealer.
Nyle was preceded in death by his father Delbert Kinghorn, his mother Melba Bright, and his sisters; Lois, and Claris Taylor. He is survived by his wife Susan Tucker Kinghorn, their four children; Kathy Miller, Ken (Calla) Kinghorn, Nancy (Michael) Breinig, and Ned (Kim) Kinghorn, his sister, Amy Kraupp, as well as his 11grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
His family is forever grateful for his example of selfless service, unconditional love, and hard work. His legacy will continue to live on.
