Katheryn Agnes Whitaker of Nacogdoches passed away December 27, 2019, in Nacogdoches at the age of 102. She was born April 7, 1917, in Nacogdoches County to parents Jesse Lee and Clara (Bell) Davis.
A life-long resident of Nacogdoches, Mrs. Whitaker has been a member of New Hope Congregational Methodist Church since the late 1930’s. She was active with the Women’s Missionary Society. Some of her hobbies included baking, gardening, and exercising. She remained active while she could. She loved to dance, including the Charleston, and she even helped mow her neighbor’s yard when she was in her 90’s.

Katheryn was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Max Box.

She is survived by her son, Raymond W. Box of Nacogdoches; step daughter, Alma Jean Chumley of Nacogdoches; step son, Jimmy Whitaker of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Kay Brown of Portland, Oregon and Monica Rochelle Box of Joshua, Texas; and cousins, Benny Davis, Dixie Davis, and Debbie Dyer.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel officiated by Rev. Jerry Jones. Interment will follow at Douglass Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Cain, Jimmy Lee, Dwight Phillips, Tony Dawson, Arnie Olsen, and Bro. Brian Tyre.
