David Landaw, 85, died on Christmas morning after a long illness. He was born in Goshen, IN, on December 20, 1934 to Claude Raymond Landaw and Jennie Ruth Todd Landaw. He graduated from Goshen High School in 1953 and Indiana University School of Optometry in 1958. He married his high school sweetheart Janet Marie Ogle in 1954 and the couple had three children, Jill, Todd, and Julie. Dave served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960 and then founded Nora Eye Care in Indianapolis, in 1961. He finally retired on January 1, 2017. Dave was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and was active in the missions program there. He had been a member of the Nora Lion’s Club and the Nora Service Club.

One of his passions was leading and serving on both building missions and medical missions. He made trips to Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Chile and many places around the United States as well. He led several work trips to Jamaica and eventually sponsored a child’s education in that country.

During the 1980s he participated in several bicycle trips across the British Isles—Scotland, Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Wight, Yorkshire-- with a group of friends from St. Luke’s. He also participated in the Indianapolis 500 Mini Marathon several times as well as the Blueberry Stomp in Plymouth Indiana. While jogging near his Nora office, he heard construction sounds along 79th street and trotted in to investigate. This led to his becoming an original Mystic Bay homeowner and many years of pleasure boating and fishing on that lake.

Dave is survived by his wife Sue and daughters Jill Marie Landaw, Indianapolis, and Julie (Randy) Gravely, Fishers; son Todd Landaw, Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, and stepson Joel (Jill) Keefer, Bloomington; four grandchildren, Samantha Hinesley, Luke Hinesley, Frank Keefer, and Bret Keefer.

Calling will be held at Leppert Mortuaries, Nora, from 5-7 on January 10 with a memorial service at 7pm. Donations may be made to The Garden Church in care of Dr. Carolyn Scanlon-Holmes, 9301 N Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
