Records show she was born in Michigan, daughter of O. H. and Maria Brown Fellows. She and Clough married in 1937 and she brought a son, Elliott L. White, into the marriage. This was Clough third marriage. As a child he was raised in Denton Texas with his three sibling. His maternal grandparents were John Linn and Martha Barb Ruddell and paternal grandparents were James M. and Lucretia Benson Bailey.
