Daughter of Sterling Lowery & Ruby (Chandler) Lowery Bass; later step-daughter of Tom "Papa Tom" Bass. Sister of Darrol Lowery [Gladys], Melba (Lowery) Kienzle Wells Zinchuk [Eugene Kienzle, Edward Wells, Steve Zinchuk] & Frances (Lowery) Hammonds [Earnest]. 4 nieces & nephews, several great-nieces & -nephews, & possibly several great-great-nieces & -nephews. Married to Mose "Skip" Hodge, 2 sons, Donald Hodge [Sue--later divorced; Rosemary] & Jerry Hodge [Betty--later divorced; Dawn--later divorced]. Later married to Fred Hodge (no relation), 2 step-daughters, Josephine (Hodge) Baker (don't know husband's name) & Jeannette (Hodge) Fair [Lenzy]. At some time married to Earl Trombley; widowed from Roy Elder at the time of her death. Geraldine worked at the old Rice Stix shirt factory (no longer in business, but the building still stands) in Blytheville in the 1940's. When she was married to Fred Hodge she helped him work his farm. For several years she and her husband Roy Elder lived in Flint, Mich. and she worked as a nurse's aide at Flint Osteopathic Hospital. Geraldine and Roy moved back to AR in 1979 and lived in Keiser until 1986, when they moved to Blytheville. After Roy's death in 1990, she lived by herself, drove her own car, and was a devoted and faithful member of Gospel Lighthouse Church and was a member of their JOY group (Just Older Youth) until failing health made her son Don decide to take her to Plano, TX and put her in an assisted living facility, where she spent her last 14 months. She was the proud grandmother of 3 grandsons, Jeffery Hodge [Angela], Mark Hodge and Michael Hodge, and 2 great-grandsons, Jonah Hodge and Elijah Hodge. Although both of Geraldine's sons were divorced, she remained close to Don's ex-wife Sue Hodge and Jerry's ex-wife Dawn Walters, and always considered them "her girls." Geraldine had many friends at Gospel Lighthouse Church, and also in Blytheville, far too many to name. She was loved by everyone who knew her. The eldest of her parents' 4 children, she outlived both parents, her step-father and all 3 of her siblings. Feisty, wonderful Christian woman. All of us here on this earth have lost a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, but Heaven has gained a very special angel.
