She came to Christ at an early age being baptized at AME Methodist Church in Maynard, Texas, later joining Ward Chapel United Methodist Church in Angleton, Texas, where she was a member until her death. She was a faithful and active member until her illness.
She passed away peacefully in her sleep with her children and several of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her side. It was an awesome home going for Alvilda.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Leola Scott; husband: Timothy Marshall Stewart Jr.; sisters: Annie Lee Harris, Lucy Scott, Artilia Denson, Teola Johnson, and Ruby White; brothers: Garfield Scott, Robert A. Scott, Ned Scott and Arthur Victor.
She leaves to mourn her passing two children who loved her with all their hearts, Donald R. Stewart Sr. and wife, Cynthia Stewart, and Jennifer L. Bryant and husband, George W. Bryant; ten grandchildren: Donya White, Diashoni Stewart, Sidney Derrick Harris and wife, Tara Harris, Donald R. Stewart Jr. and wife, LaCarlsha Stewart, Krystal Bryant, George W. Bryant II, Donnecha Stewart, Vicki Charles, and husband, Quinn Charles, Eric Davis and Corey Davis; four sisters: Blanche Branch, Adelphia Scott, Helen Jackson and Ola Holden; two brothers: Jesse Lee Scott and wife, Judy, and the Rev. John D. Scott and wife, Florence; in-laws Richard Stewart and wife, Jeanette, Guy Stewart and wife, Vivian, Ernestine Mitchell, Beatrice Kennedy, and Willie Mae Scott; 24 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and very special friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at First Missionary Baptist Church in Angleton, Texas, with Richard Stewart officiating.
Vistitation will be held Monday July 10, 2006, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m with a wake service from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Chapel in Angleton, Texas
