Carol Ann Hillmann (nee Stoddard) Age 74, of Big Bend, died peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2018 at her daughters home in Burlington after a 4-month struggle with Pancreatic cancer.

Carol was born on September 17, 1943 in Woodstock, IL, the daughter of the late Laurin C. Stoddard and Elsie May Akerberg.

She was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock, IL by Dr. Kaufman and then confirmed her baptism on April 14, 1957 by Pastor Julius Juhkentaal. Carol attended Woodstock High School and participated in GAA playing basketball and volleyball coached by her beloved "Teach." After graduating from high school she attended Carthage College for a year and then began working at McHenry County Title Company.

Carol met Donald Hillmann and was married on April 24, 1965 at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock, IL. They moved to Oshkosh where Don started working at Mercury Marine. Their first child, Douglas Donald was born on March 30, 1966. Their second child, Christine Ann was born on August 16, 1968. Carol and her new family were very involved at their church home, Martin Luther, in Oshkosh. Their third child, Cynthia Ann was born on January 16, 1978.

Carol worked for many years at the University of Oshkosh in maintenance services and Career Planning and Placement. Carol and Don divorced in 1994 and she moved to Jefferson and was a secretary for UW Extension in Madison.

Carol retired in 2006 and bought a home right next to Christ Lutheran Church and School where she was the church secretary for a short time.

Carol (Nana) was able to spend all her time with her grandchildren who could be found eating all her food, napping in her basement, playing games around her home, swinging on the tree swing and throwing a baseballs at the side of her house. The children at the school rarely call her Mrs. Hillmann, as everyone there knew her as "Nana."

Carol devoted much of her time to her church group, Mary and Martha, attending to shut-ins and her Bible classes. She could often be found cheering loudly for her grandchildren at baseball, basketball, football games and wrestling matches. There is nothing she cherished more than her children and grandchildren and they were the light of her life.

Carol is survived by her mother, Elsie Stoddard, her brothers; Roger Stoddard, Gene (Peg) Stoddard, Dale (Chona) Stoddard, and her sister, Lisa (Alex) Petralia. Her children: Douglas Hillmann, Christine (Jim) Mastrocola, Cynthia (Travis) Jansen, her beloved grandchildren; Zachary (Rachel) Hillmann, Nicholas Mastrocola, EJ Mastrocola, Tony Mastrocola, Colton Jansen, Evangeline Jansen, and Boyd Jansen along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Carols funeral visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:30 PM, on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, S89 W22970 Maple Ave. in Big Bend with the funeral service to follow at 2:30 PM.

Memorial donations can be made to Tomorrows Choice or Christ Lutheran School and Church.
