On September 26, 1994, Edward “Cobbie” Kwadjo Ansong was born in Aurora, IL to Brenis and Edward Ansong.

Edward attended Miller Elementary and Murphy Middle School before he was accepted to The Greenhill School in Dallas, TX where he enjoyed math, science, art, Mandarin language classes, and playing the cello. Edward loved the community fostered by The Greenhill School’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, leading him to continue his education at the University of Houston. Edward received the Houston Louis-Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Scholarship. While at University of Houston, he successfully earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics, because he could! In addition, Edward earned several computer science related certificates to further develop his understanding of data and computer sciences, such as Statistical Thinking for Data Science and Analytics, Applied Machine Learning from Microsoft, to name a few. After completing his undergraduate degree, Edward was hired by Blue Cross Blue Shield as an Associate Developer before working as a Data Analyst for CBRE. Edward was known for always helping friends, family members and neighbors troubleshoot computer issues and aid in purchasing electronics. He also often helped his older sister Lauren understand her graduate level biostatistics and coding homework.

Edward was known for his kind personality, willingness to help, and strong sense of independence. He loved video gaming from a young age and was always excited to try the latest gaming device. He was an avid cook which he learned at a very early age and became a food connoisseur. He was always scouting out the next great dining experience, trying various Asian recipes, and baking his famous pound cakes and Nutella cheesecakes. Edward enjoyed spending time with his friends in coffee shops or sipping bubble tea. His brilliance and analytical mind were unsurpassed and beautifully complemented his easy-going personality.

Edward departed from this life on April 19, 2019 in Plano, TX. His friends and family will remember him for his brilliant mind, kind spirit, and extraordinary culinary skills. He was deeply loved and will be missed dearly.

Edward was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Herman West.

Edward is survived by his parents, Brenis and Edward Ansong, sister, Lauren Ansong, grandparents Al and Jawel Lemons (Forney, TX), Edward O. Ansong and Gladys Laryea (Ghana). He also leaves behind numerous uncles, aunts and cousins in the U.S., Europe and Ghana.
