Funeral of William Harry Leonard
The funeral of William Harry Leonard, who died suddenly of heart failure on August 26th, took place on Tuesday, August 29th. The remains had been removed from Richmond to Lord's Undertaking Parlors, Sherbrooke, and from thence were taken to the Church of the Advent, where funeral service was conducted by the pastor Rev. E. H. Humphries, supported by organist and full choir.
A number of the "Old Boys" of the Gibbs' Home and other friends attended. The floral offerings included wreaths from the "Old Boys," committee and staff, and sprays from J. H. Hunter, Willam Prewer and Havelock Lodge IOOF.
The deceased had been in delicate health for several years, but despite his poor physical condition faced his difficulties with courage. He came to Sherbrooke in 1907, under the auspices of the Gibbs' Home, and since that time had been employed continuously in the Eastern Townships. He was much attached to Mr. D. M. Gee of Gore, and his family having worked for the employer for some years, and also spent some pleasant holidays in this home. The week prior to his death, Mr. Leonard expressed a wish to make a visit with Mr. Gee, and the deceased was enjoying the hospitality of this home at the time of his death.
Mr. Leonard was interred in the family plot belonging to the Gibbs' Home in Prospect Street Cemetery.
