Harry Carlson, age 30 living at 1712 Sixteenth avenue, Moline, has enlisted in the regular army and left Saturday night for Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He expects to be assigned to duty as a musician. Harry is the brother of Curley Carlson who handles the Dispatch circulation in East Moline and towns east.

Harry Walter Carlson was born on April 19th 1887, in Moline, Rock Island, Illinois, to parents, Mary Magnuson and Oscar Carlson. He was raised and received a common school educated in Moline. In 1917 he enlisted in the regular Army during World War 1. On August 23th 1920 in the parsonage of the Salem Lutheran Church in Moline, Harry married a local Port Byron, young lady named Clara Mary Ziegler. This union was blessed with one daughter. After their marriage, Harry & Clara lived in the Rock Island County, Illinois moving to Houston 27 years ago. Harry retired from the Electrical trade.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Arthur L. Carlson, Fred Herbert Carlson, sister in-law, Vesta Marie (Preston) Carlson & niece, Marion Carlson Hopkey.

Those left to honor his memory are, his beloved wife of 48 years, Clara, daughter & son -in law Doris Jean & Howard Vernon Morton, two grandsons, sister-in-law Minnie (Hanson) Carlson, numerous nieces, and nephews, plus a host of friends.

Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
