Ralph L. Fravel passed away due to complications of Parkinson's disease in Santa Rosa December 26, 2018.
Loving husband of Kathie A. Fravel (predeceased) of Santa Rosa, beloved father of Darren (Leslie) Fravel, Kristopher (Michele) Bess, Becki (Donald) Peterson; Bill Doughty, Lisa and Mark Doughty and Sarah Renieke. Beloved brother of Wayne (Carol) Fravel, Virginia (Fred) Vela. Loving grandfather of Jake and Rylie Fravel, Elie and William Bess, Natalie and Ashlee Peterson.
Ralph was born in Columbus, Indiana and moved to Sonoma County in the 60s. He worked the rodeo circuit and then became a police officer with Santa Rosa Police Dept., badge #16, and served our community as a peace officer for over 30 years until he retired in 1998. Ralph also loved NASCAR and drove a Formula Ford racecar for the Fravel Racing Team at Sears Point. Ralph's other love was coaching. He coached middle school and high school basketball and high school football including Montgomery High School's 2004/2005 undefeated NBL Champions. Ralph mentored and coached countless youth and served our community with dignity and grace. He will be greatly missed by all.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Lafferty & Smith Colonial Chapel, 4321 Sonoma Hwy., Santa Rosa CA 95409. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
