CARENCRO ~ Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Ronald James Benoit, age 73, who passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his residence in Church Point.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. Landry Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Benoit was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. He retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board as a Bus Driver after fourteen years of employment. A veteran of the military, Mr. Benoit proudly served his country in the United States Marines.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Nita Benoit; two sons, Blaine Sonnier and his companion, Karina Bergeron, and Terry Benoit and his wife, Paulette; two daughters, Belinda Benoit and her companion, Troy Gaspard, and Tonya Tate and her husband, Joey; one step-son, Randy Walker; one step-daughter, Vicki Walker all of Carencro; seven grandchildren, Miranda Oliver and her husband, Cody, Magan Tate, Dustin Sonnier and his wife, Ashley, Steven Thibodeaux and his wife, Britney, Emmy Sonnier, Adi Sonnier and Amy Miller and her husband, Beau; six great-grandchildren, Hadley, Aiden, Ella, Marlee, Ellie and James Lee; and a host of step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernand Benoit and the former Loida Mary Roger; and his former wife, Melba Patin.
