Born May 2, 1919 in Sykesville, she was the daughter of the late Florence (Pringle) Carlson and step-daughter of Arthur S. Carlson.
She was married to Garvey J. McLaughlin on May 31, 1941 in Brookville. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Marian graduated from Sykesville High School and Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by Maple Avenue Hospital as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years.
Marian was Methodist, but practiced the Catholic faith. She was a lifetime member of Juanita Elementary School PTA where she volunteered while her grandchildren attended. She loved vacationing in Ocean City, MD with her family, enjoyed crossword puzzles, quilting, and walking for exercise. She was the neighborhood nurse for all her eastside family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marian is survived by two children, Garry J. (Sharon) McLaughlin, DuBois, and Susan L. (Gary) Gluczyk, DuBois; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Gluczyk- (Harry) Bell, Kevin Kristine (Matthew) Cook, Krista Hallowell, Barbara McLaughlin, David (Serena) Gluczyk, Korry Gluczyk, and Kyle Gluczyk, all of DuBois, and four great-grandchildren, Alex Hallowell, Drew Patrick Cook, Hayden Harper Bell, and Kade Owen Gluczyk, all of DuBois.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Joseph Loss.
There will be no public visitation or services as per her wishes. Arrangements are under the direction of Adamson Funeral Chapel Inc., DuBois. Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery.
