William Eugene "Bill" Lane, 74, of Iowa Park passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018.
Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Park Place Christian Church, 4400 Call Field Rd., Wichita Falls, with Rev. Alice Hupp, officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Bellevue under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. Visitation and Prayer Service will be held prior to the service between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. at Park Place Christian Church.
Bill was born on September 2, 1944 to the late William Claude and Wiladeen (Heard) Lane in Marshall, Arkansas, where he attended school. Being a military family, they were transferred to different places including Japan. While in Japan, Bill played baseball for the military league and even climbed Mount Fuji with the scout troop. Settling in Iowa Park, Texas in the 1960s, he met the love of his life, June Doyle. The couple married and spent over 50 years together. Bill was a member of the First Christian Church in Iowa Park, where he served as a Deacon and other positions in the Church. He was a farmer and worked in the insurance business for many years. Bill enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and bowling. He coached little league teams in Iowa Park, including his children's teams. He was member of the Maskat Shrine, Eastern Star, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Iowa Park Masonic Lodge, as well as a lifetime member of the Downtown Optimist Club. Bill will be missed by many.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob Colton Lane.
Bill is survived by his wife, June Lane; son, Brandon Lane and wife, Cara; daughter, Kristi Lane; granddaughters, Breeli, Brooklyn, Joni, and Bethany Soto and husband, Spencer; a stepmother, Patsy Lane; his sister, Barbara Lane of Marshall, Arkansas; his four companions, Peanut, ChiChi, Squeaky, and Princess; and numerous other family members.
