Monty loved the outdoors and hunting with his brothers while growing up in Hubbard, Texas. After graduation from Hubbard High in 1941, he worked as an aircraft mechanic, then enlisted in the Army where he completed Army Air Corp Officer training as a B-17 pilot in the 97th Bomb Group. At age 20, Second Lieutenant Adair flew missions in the Po Valley and North Apennies Campaigns. After the war, he attended Texas A & M University, graduating with a degree in Agronomy, and worked many years in various government departments, until retirement in 1990. Most of these years he spent with his beloved wife, Rossy, in San Antonio, Texas.
As an antique car and tractor enthusiast, and restorer/collector of all things rusty, Monty kept busy saving old machines from the salvage yard. He and his projects appeared in area shows and occasional parades.
Monty is survived by his children, Frank Adair of Florissant, Colorado, Judy Elliott of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and Cathy Grider of Blanchard, Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Brenda Vowell of Trophy Club, Texas; nine wonderful grandchildren; numerous nephews and cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
His Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Blanchard Cemetery with Reverend Larry Vowell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com
