Deputy Infante with two Ellis County deputies went to the 2800 block of Ingersoll in Dallas. Two more Dallas county deputies brought a search warrant to the residence and found the deputies disarmed, bound and held at gunpoint by the suspects. The suspects took the five deputies hostage, drove them to a river bottom off of Westmoreland. One deputy managed to free his hands and swung at a gunman. Shots were fired, Infante and two other deputies were killed.
Rene Guzman,33, and Leonard Lopez, 34 were charged with murder. Guzman is serving a life sentence at the McConnell unit. Lopez is serving a life sentence at the Jester III unit.
