Larry was born August 28, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas to William M. and Virginia L. (Ivey) Ake.
He began his Tour of Duty January 31, 1970 and service in the United States Army and was a Veteran of Vietnam. He earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Expert Badge w/Rifle, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was Honorably discharged December 16, 1973.
For over 20 years he was a Cross Country Truck Driver. Larry lived most of his life in Pauls Valley with the most recent time in Wynnewood. He loved driving is Harley Davidson and Four-Wheeler; his hobbies include coon hunting, taking care of his coon dogs, watching wrestling, and was an avid Texas Longhorn fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Manning Ake and mother Virginia Lucille Moseley.
Larry's surviving family include: one sister, Elaine Graham and husband Les, of Pauls Valley; his former-wife, Gayla Dawson-Ake, of the home; her daughter, Lauren Dawson and her children, Kynna and Delilah; and son, Wesley Lash; two brothers, Wendell Ake and wife, Sheila, of Buffalo, Kentucky. and Curtis Ake, a 20-year retiree of the United States Marines, and wife, Alicia, of San Antonio, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Bro. Donnie Hanner. Interment will be at Katie Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
