Sylvester G. Massa, age 92 of Yorkville, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the Kind Hands Senior Care in Yorkville, IL. He was born on November 2, 1925 in Collinsville, IL the son of Joseph and Matilda (Leebler) Massa.

Sylvester married Marian Lea Akins on September 9, 1948. After Marian died on March 29, 1985, Sylvester married Joyce (Halbesma) Dhuse on December 14, 1986.

Sylvester was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, step-father, and step-grandfather. He leaves his wife of 31 years. He leaves two daughters, Celeste (Jeff) Sieth of St. Charles, MO and Annette (Chris) Young of Peru, IL. He leaves two sons, Joseph (Kate) Massa of Aurora, IL and Paul (Nancy) Massa of Palos Heights, IL. He also is survived by three-step-children. Phillip (Deena) Dhuse of Ottawa, IL; Rebecca (Jose) Monjaraz of Yorkville, IL and Peter (Jennifer) Dhuse of Yorkville, IL. His beloved 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. One sister, Rose Baima; three brothers-in-law, Steve (Michelle) Halbesma, Charles (Gloria) Halbesma, and Ronald Gates. Also several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian; his daughter, Debbie; his parents; three brothers and nine sisters.

As per Sylvester’s wishes, there will be a Visitation from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 2505 Boomer Lane, Yorkville, followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Michael Stoner, officiating and concluding with fellowship.
