Richard George Ashton was the son of Richard Lewis Ashton (1856-1891) and Elizabeth Warren Ashton (nee Morgan) (1854-1945) of Bristol England. Husband of Annie Mary Ashton (nee Close) (1880-1960) of Victoria, British Columbia, and father of Edward George Ashton (1916-1992) who was just 17 months old when his father died in the violent battle at Passchendaele and was buried there in the mud with many other soldiers.
