Gerald was born on August 12, 1945 in Danville and raised the son of Edward and Carmel (Hancock) Elmendorf. Gerald married Georganne Batuello on February 13, 1979 in Romeoville, Illinois and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Georganne of Danville; seven sons, Michael (Michelle) Elmendorf of Danville, Gerald L. (Jessica) Elmendorf, Jr., of Mattoon, Illinois, John (Patti) Jansky of Danville, Jacob Jansky of Danville, Jim (Laura) Jansky of Mesquite, Texas, Ken (Tracie) Elmendorf of Maryville, Tennessee and Scott (Julie) Elmendorf of Knoxville, Tennessee; one brother, Dan Reeder of Danville; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kevin Cole.
Gerald served in the United States Army from August 30, 1966 until August 29, 1972. He was a Dispatcher for Danville School District 118 School Bus Service. Gerald enjoyed spending his free time golfing, woodworking, bowling and building models, especially models of ships. Gerald loved his family and instilled a strong work ethic in his children.
