John Franklin Cox was the son of Walter Ennis Cox and Alfretta Hotchkiss Cox.
His father Walter was born abt 1873 in Iowa according to the 1880 census where he is living with his parents John A Cox FAG #41358462 and Clementine Park Cox FAG #41358461.
His mother Alfretta I 'Retta' Hotchkiss was born 1879 in Iowa and died 1901 in Wyoming. Walter and Alfretta Cox married 23 Aug 1896.
To date we can find graves for neither parent. His mother died 1901 and information in the 1910 census leads us to believe that possibly his father had passed away before 1910 because John and his brother Clifford are living with grandparents.
John is age 11 living with his paternal grandparents: John and Clementine Cox in Dayton, Sheridan, Wyoming. He enlisted in 1 Aug 1916 in Dayton, Sheridan, Wyoming.
