Warwick Man Dies; Prominent in Fire Fighting Circles

Adolph W. Alsfeld, 72, of 14 Bend Street, prominent in fire fighting circles of the state for many years, died yesterday at Kent County Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 17, 1883 in Providence and resided for 50 years in Warwick. His parents were the late Adolph H. and Mary (Myers) Alsfeld.

He was past president of the Warwick Firemen's League, the Rhode Island State Firemen's League, the Conimicut Fire Company and the New England Fire Chiefs' Club. He was a member of the Fire Chiefs' Club of Rhode Island.

A retired jewelry salesman, he worked for the Z. Berberian Co. of Providence until 1950. He was an organizer of Shawomet Lodge, Loyal Order of the Moose.

Survivors are his wife, Annie L. (McCurdy) Alsfeld; three sons, Adolph W., Jr. and Richard of Warwick and Earl F. of Warwick; two daughters, Mrs. Marion L. Lewis and Mrs. Gertrude O'Donnell, both of Newport; two brothers, Ernest of Warwick and Albert of California; a sister, Mrs. Alice Glover of Hyannis, Mass. and 10 grandchildren.

The funeral will take place from the Peter J. Barrett Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Monday at 9:15 a.m. with a requiem Mass in St. Benedict's Church, Conimicut, at 10. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
