Rosemary Breslin, Wife Of The News Columnist. ...

NYTimes
June 10, 1981

Rosemary Breslin, the wife of Jimmy Breslin, the columnist, died yesterday at Lenox Hill Hospital after a long illness. She was 50 years old.

Mr. Breslin, whose column appears in The Daily News, often referred to his wife in his column, sometimes in passing, sometimes relaying with affection and admiration her comments on current events. Once he devoted an entire column to a description of a shopping expedition with his wife and her mother.

In an article in New York magazine, referring as usual to his wife as "the former Rosemary Dattolico," Mr. Breslin told of a trip with her to an Italian neighborhood in Queens where the residents were resisting condemnation of their homes to make way for a high school and athletic field.

Mrs. Breslin was born in New York City, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Dattolico. She and Mr. Breslin were married Dec. 26, 1954. In addition to her husband, she is survived by their six children, Kevin, James, Rosemary, Kelly, Patrick and Chris.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered today at 9:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 70-01 Kessel Street, Forest Hills, Queens. Private burial services will be held in St. John Cemetery.
