SHELBY- Buford Billy Champion Sr., 86, of Shelby, died Nov. 5, 2011 at Peak Resources of Shelby.
A loving grandfather, he worked and retired from Doran Textiles.
He was preceded in death by parents Edgar and Lela Wright Champion; sisters Lorrene Lanier, Luna Wellmon, Ethel Weaver and Ruth Hopper; brothers Ed Champion, Ralph Champion and Jack Champion; and step-son Randy Street.
He is survived by his wife Audrey Champion of Shelby; daughter Gail Warren and Don of Lattimore; sons Bill Champion and Claire of Millageville, GA and Phil Champion and Barbara of Shelby; grandchildren Ashley Greene and Mike of Shelby, Travis Champion and Kim of Charlotte, Wendy Cobb and Calvin of Lattimore, Stacey Clapper and Brett of Lattimore, Daniel Champion of Shelby and Alisha Odems and Patric of Shelby and Chad Peeler of Shelby; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Diane Earwood and Robert of Double Shoals, Brenda Marlow of Gastonia, Vernie Houser of Charlotte; brothers Ray Champion and Peg of Shelby, Raymond Champion and Eva of Shelby and Hal Champion and Joann of Double Shoals.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from1 until 2:30pm Tuesday, at Cleveland Funeral Services.
