Art D. Turney, Jr, 81 of Rogers, Ar died 24 June 2006 at his home. He was born 12 Dec 1924 in Stigler, Okla to Arthur & Grace Hull Turney, Sr. He worked for the Red Cross until 1951. He married 25 August 1951 to Maurine Marsh in Huntsville, Arkansas. He was in the construction business(1951-1979) and was owner of Art Turney, Inc for 28 years in Hutchinson, Ks. He retired 1979 to the Beaver Lake area of Rogers, Ar, where he enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Dirty Twenty fishing club. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, flying, storytelling and reading.
Survivors include his wife: Maurine Rose Turney of the home, one son Bill Turney & wife Lanelle of Parkerfield, Ks, 2 daughters: Nancy Turney of Stigler, Ok and Mary Turney & her husband Rick Liquie of Fair Play, S.C.; 4 brothers: Bill Turney(1922-2012) and Henry Turney(1938-2020) of Muskogee, Ok, Lee Turney of Haskell, Ok and Frank Turney of Broken Arrow, Ok, and one uncle: Gene Hull(1920-2011) of North Little Rock, Ar, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Mayme Turney Poe(1921-1993).
Services are at 11:30am Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers(where he was a member), with the Rev. Jeff Parker officiating.
Pallbearers Bill Lay, David Incao, Bill, Lee, Frank & Henry Turney. Honorary pallbearers are George Frink and Uncle Gene Hull.
