Glade Spring, VA – Ruth Anne “Fannie” Thompson Stanley, age 56, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Ruth was born on June 30, 1961 and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a 1979 Graduate of Patrick Henry High School and earned an Associate’s Degree at Virginia Highlands Community College. Ruth was a dedicated life member of 30 years at Glade Spring Volunteer Life Saving Crew. She was loved by all that knew her and was a great asset to the Glade Spring Community. Ruth had a loving and compassionate heart and would help anyone she could. Her love for children lead her to drive a bus for People Inc. for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ned and Charlsie Reedy Thompson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, John F. and Leona Stanley; brother, William Joseph Thompson; niece, Cortney Amber Thompson; and two Angel grandbabies.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 35 years, Johnny Dwayne Stanley, the love of her life; three children, Joshua Lee (Toshia) Thompson, Kimberly “Lulu” (Curtis) Phillips, and Jared Dwayne (Christina) Stanley; two brothers, David (Missie)Thompson and Johnny (Kim) Thompson; sister, Linda (Rick) Casey; 12 grandchildren who she dearly loved and were the light of her life, Brady, Dylan, Isabelle, Abigail, Kylie, Little Jared, Liberty, Annabelle, Alyssa, Teagan, Emma, and Ellieanna; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, in the Glade Spring Volunteer Life Saving Crew Hall. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Glade Spring Volunteer Life Saving Crew Hall with Bro. Danny Owen and Pastor Tim Norris officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Baptist Cemetery with Jared Stanley, Harold Trent, Allen Stanley, Earl White, Jonathan Cannon, Ricky Stumbo, Allen Parris, and Matt Parris serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Glade Spring Volunteer Life Saving Crew, Glade Spring Fire Dept., Abingdon Ambulance Service, C-Trans, Washington County Life Saving Crew, Meadowview Fire Dept., and the Damascus Life Saving Crew.
