James “Jim” Miron Pannell is at peace, his struggle with Alzheimer’s ended on Dec 17, 2017. Jim was born in Oakland, CA to Everett Miron and Mildred (Cox) Pannell. Jim was the son of a Baptist Minister. One of his passions was serving the Lord and he did so until he was no longer able.
He was drafted to Viet Nam and shortly after, he lost his father. He returned home to care for his family. In 1980 he married his wife of 37 years, Terry Lynn (Roberts) Pannell. They resided in Grandview, Texas for most of their life and he was active with his son, Jimmy, in many interests, especially coaching baseball.
Jim also enjoyed working on his HotRods, bass fishing and serving the Lord by ministering as a Sunday School teacher at the First United Methodist Church in Grandview. Jim was an accomplished piano player and enjoyed playing for the kids in his Sunday School class. He especially enjoyed donating food baskets for needy families and shopping for children on the Angle Tree.
Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a State Farm agent for exactly 33 years.
He is preceded by his parents. Jim is survived by his wife, Terry; son, Jimmy and wife Lindsey; two grandchildren, Grayson and Tripp, and daughter Amy. He is also survived by brother, Billy and Michelle Pannell and brother, Gary and Anne Pannell.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19th, 5-7pm at the Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home in Grandview, TX. Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20th at the First United Methodist Church in Grandview. Internment will follow immediately at the Richland Cemetery in Mertens, Texas (Hill County)
