VICTORIA - Loretta L. Foster went to be with the Lord December 10, 2017 at the age of 88. She was born April 9, 1929 in San Patricio County to Rufus and Stella Beard.


Loretta is preceded in death by her loving husband Lyle Foster, her parents Rufus and Stella Beard, Sister; Stella Beard, brother; Billy Beard, daughter; Gail Dodds and grandson Aaron Anderson.


Loretta spent 40 years as a licensed nurse. She worked in the neonatal unit in Victoria, Texas. She developed procedures to reduce pain after abdominal surgery. The University of Health Science center in San Antonio accepted the procedures for a study and published results in Applied Nursing Research. She was one of the four authors in the document. Her work became known as the Foster Method.


She worshiped at Blyth Road Church of Christ where her late husband served as a deacon.


Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 4:00- 6:00pm with a funeral service on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 10:00 am at Grace Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.


Services are under the direction and personal care of Grace Funeral Home.
