Dewayne was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on August 25, 1958 to John D. and June Box. He grew up in Lubbock and attended Monterrey High School. On October 11, 2003 he married Vicki Kizer, and they made their home in Lubbock County on Box Avenue.
He had been in construction for most of his life and had his own business. He was extremely creative in everything he did. He loved deer hunting and played golf. He was a good cook and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved fishing and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Vicki Box; two brothers Mike Box and wife Teresa and their two sons Bryan Box and wife Evyn and their children, and Michael Box and wife Miranda and their children; and Ricky Box and wife Donna and their children Jamie and her husband "Moose", Sammy and wife Sarah and Jay and his wife Hailey and their children.
