Helen Louise Roberson

Helen Louise Roberson lived a long and productive 103 years. Born September 16, 1914, in Era, Texas, she died peacefully October 11, 2017. Helen was loved and respected by her family and many friends. She was a role model for all of us setting the example of how women can become successful and productive leaders. She was a twenty-first century woman born perhaps a century too early.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James W. Roberson, and by her parents Benedict and Sarah E. Alexander and also by her sisters Vera Leola Alexander, Marie Bundy, Margaret Gibson and Brothers Rexford, Gordon, Jacquelin, Kenneth, John, and Edwin Alexander. Helen is survived by her sister, Reba Handwerk of Richmond, Virginia and her sister-in-law, Jane Alexander of Valley View, along with several generations of loving nieces and nephews and their families.

The family would like to acknowledge and express appreciation to the caregivers and nurses associated with the Willow Bend Assisted Care Center in Denton, TX, where Helen lived her final years until her passing.

Pallbearers will include great nephews, John and Rodney Alexander of Trenton, TX, Jason Alexander of Austin, Russell Hagg of Dallas, Alex Williamson of Houston, and Charles Allbright of Keller. Honorary pallbearers include all the remaining nephews, great nephews, and great-great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Denny Hook with music provided by Carolyn Hook. Burial will follow in the Era Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned.
