Michael "Mike" Brown, 51, of Big Spring, died Monday, October 2, 2017.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, October 6, 2017 at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Burial with Navy Honors will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
Mike was born January 14, 1966 in Big Spring, Texas to Caryle McCreary Brown and George Kenton Brown.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy. During his 12 years of service, he was an investigator in the Military Police and was also a Gun Instructor on the USS Jouett Naval Ship.
He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring except for the time he was in the Navy.
He was currently employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He was a Methodist.
Mike is survived by one daughter: Kristen Long of Big Spring; one granddaughter: Summer Long, also of Big Spring; his mother Caryle Smith and step-father Dr. Taylor Smith of Colorado; his father: Kent Brown; one brother: Joey Oglethorpe (Brandi Waits), all of Big Spring; two uncles: Johnny Brown of Big Spring and Lou McCreary of Austin; three cousins: Lara Stryker of Dallas, Lisa Owen of Austin and Charles McCreary of Arlington; one step-sister: Carolyn Lucus of Snowqualmie, WA; and one step-brother: Mike Smith of Baltimore, MD.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents: Claudia and Bernie McCreary and John Ed and Helen Brown; his step-mother: Vicky Brown and two uncles: Mike McCreary and Warren McCreary.
Pallbearers will be Manuel DeLeon, Kenneth Alfano, Moses Tijerina, Pano Rodriguez, Charles Rodriguez, Billy Franklin, Donny Buchanan, Joey Oglethorpe, Gus Yanez , Michael Dean Williams and Jess Colegrove. Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Leal.
