"Tony" was born in Rolinda, California to Joseph Freitas Martin and Maria DeSantos Coelho, immigrants from the Azores Islands.

He attended school in Tranquillity and at Washington Union High School in Easton; and he later attended electrical trade school in Chicago.

He was a lifelong resident of Easton, where he was a farmer and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Tony married Cecilia Anna Miguel on August 4, 1934, and they were married 72 years until her death this past November.

Together they were active in several Portuguese Fraternal Organizations over the years including the I.D.E.S., S.E.S., The C.P.D.E.S. Hall of Easton and The Fresno County Cabrillo Civic Club #10.

In addition to his beloved wife Cecilia, he was preceded in death by his children, Barbara Meadows and Anthony Martin, Jr.; his siblings, Mable Martin, Emily Freitas, Laura Perry and a half brother, John S. Martin.

Tony is survived by his daughter-in-law, Edna Martin of Easton; his sisters, Dora Mendonca and her husband George of Modesto, and Doris Lima of Fresno; and his brother-in-law, George Miguel.

He is the grandfather of Johnny Martin, Julie Thompson and her husband Stephen, Christopher Martin and his wife LaRetta, Lisa Moya, Jeanne Jurgens and her husband Guy, Michael Martin, Richard Martin, Anthony Martin and his companion, Rhonda Boekemeier and Brian Martin.

He is the great-grandfather of 17 and the great-great grandfather of 17.
