Grace Lucille "Gracie" Brevard was born in Crowder Mountain Township, Gaston County, North Carolina on June 22nd, 1924 to Hillard Walter and Georgia Ann (Lattimore) Brevard.
In 1930, the family was living in Crowder Mountain Township.
In 1935 and 1940, Grace was still living in Crowder Mountain Township with her father. The 1940 Census indicates she is living with her father and her two youngest brothers, Ray and Ralph. Her mother, Georgia had already moved to New Jersey.
Grace met Marshall in about 1939. She went to New Jersey to join her mother Georgia Lattimore (separated from her father Hilliard Brevard) in about 1941. Marshall followed her to New Jersey where they were married and began their family.
Grace and Marshall would have seven children together. They were:

Albert Michael
Roddy Preston
Lester David
Barbara Althea
Robin Jeanine
Grace returned to North Carolina in 1957 with some of her children. The rest of the family returned in 1961. Marshall died in 1962, less than one month before the birth of their youngest child, Robin.
Grace's youngest child, Isaac James Starr was born to Grace and Isaac James Patterson. Grace and Isaac Patterson were never married.
Grace eventually married R.B. Currence in about 1968.
Her son Albert passed away in 1978 in a fatal motorcycle accident in Bessemer City, North Carolina. Her son Marshall passed away in 1981 while institutionalized for long term mental illness care.
Grace passed into eternity on August 11th, 2002. Grace was laid to rest at Adams Chapel AME Zion Church in Kings Mountain, North Carolina
