Having gone through the valley of the shadow of death, Edward Charles Anderson, 65, received his eternal reward on August 8, 2017 and will dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23).

Ed was born on April 10, 1952 in Greenville, SC to the late Charles Lawrence and Helen Pettit Anderson.

After attending Greenville High School, Ed went to Presbyterian College and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Ed began his 40-year career with PYA/Monarch and transitioned with the company to US Foods. He was passionate about serving the community. Ed was involved in leadership roles in numerous organizations including the United Way and Loaves & Fishes.

Ed was the embodiment of a faithful servant of Christ. He grew up at Trinity Methodist Church Greenville, spent many years attending First Baptist Church Greenville, and most recently was a member at First Presbyterian Church, Clinton, SC. Over the years, he served these churches as a deacon, elder, committee member, and steward.

Family was of the utmost importance to Ed. His unbreakable spirit will live on in the lives he’s touched. Ed spent his last days surrounded by those he loved, including attending his daughter, Claire’s wedding at Greenville Memorial Hospital made possible by the nurses and Dr. Mahmoud Rayes of the Neuro ICU.

Ed is survived by Virginia May Anderson (Jenny), his wife of 41 years who was his best friend, the love of his life and, most recently, his loving, loyal caregiver. He is also survived by his two beloved daughters Lauren Emily Anderson of Charlotte, NC and Claire Anderson Billingsley and husband, Jacob, of Greenville, SC; his twin brother, Stephen Charles Anderson, and wife, Kathy, of Greenville, SC, as well as much-loved sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Elliott Anderson.

In January 2016, Ed was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Ed’s daughter, Lauren, gave him the gift of life last Fall when she donated her stem cells for his transplant. The difficulties he faced over the last 18 months took their toll on Ed’s body, but his spirit and faith in the Lord remained steadfast.
