William Frederick Kaiser, who for 48 years has resided in this section, passed away Feb. 7 at his home in Sutherland. He was born in Freeport, Illinois, April 19, 1858. In March 1874 he was confirmed in the Lutheran church. At the lime of his death he was 77 years, 9 months and 18 days old.

He had three brothers and three sisters, two of whom are living, a sister. Mrs. Minnie Vietmeir of Forreston, Illinois and a brother, Henry Kaiser of this city.

He was married March 1, 1882 of Freeport, Illinois. Emma Schauer, who survives him. To this union were born eight children, all of whom are living. They are Levi Kaiser of Lake Park, Iowa; William Kaiser of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; Mrs Lillie Bundy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Walter Kaiser of Blencoe, Iowa; Mrs. Emma Hill, Mrs. Agnes Duncan, Charley Kaiser and Myrtle Kaiser of Sutherland. He is also survived my sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchildren.

The deceased come to Iowa In the spring of 1888 and engaged in farming first on a rented then on his own farm 4 1/2 miles north of Sutherland until his retirement in 1919 when he moved to Sutherland.

Until his retirement 16 years ago he not only devoted himself to his vocation of farming but was also active in community affairs in Grant township where he served several terms as township assessor. He will be remembered by his many friends for strict observance of the Golden Rule. He was absolutely fearless in doing those things he knew to be right. It can be said of him that be never broke his word. To his family he was a devoted and loving husband and father.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Reiste chapel. Interment was in the Waterman cemetery. Services were conducted by the Rev Richardson of Spencer, Iowa.
