He was granted 42 acres of land in 1765 by the heirs of William Penn.
He served in the Revolutionary War in 1777.
They had at least six sons and two daughters.

On Christmas day 1795, he granted land for a union church, graveyard and school (now known as Altland's Meeting House) for the use of the Lutheran, Reformed and German Baptist.
The 1800 census revealed he had one son and one daughter aged sixteen to twenty-five. Also he lived next to his son, Peter.
He died on July 12, 1804.
Phillip lived to age 66.
