Michael C. (Mike) Fisher of Bastrop Texas passed peacefully at home on July 4th, 2017. He was born on October 6th, 1942 to Merle and Mary Fisher. He attended Cameron Junior College and Oklahoma State University. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Bonnie Sue Fisher of 43 years. A daughter Mary Sue Leathers and husband Robert Leathers, sons Wesley Wiley, Robert Wiley and wife Etta Wiley, Sister Sandy Jackson. Grand children Amber Howell, Robert M. Leathers, Billy Joe Leathers, Cortland Wiley, Christopher Fletcher, Sara Wiley and Michael Clay Wiley and five Great Grand Children and numerous other relatives. At the time of death he served as the Bastrop County Emergency Management Coordinator. A role in which he served over 10 years and during some of the most significant events in Bastrop County. He was a visionary and innovator in the world of Emergency Management. Prior to becoming EMC, he served the City of Bastrop as the Public Works Director. He was a retired Fire Chief with over 40 years of service with the City of Bastrop and a TEEX instructor at the annual fire school. To him his most important accomplishment was his family. He was a beloved husband, father and Pawpaw. To those who knew him he was a good friend, father figure and mentor. He not only lived the length of his life but the width. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bastrop Long Term Recovery Team or the Bastrop Food Pantry. Arrangements under the direction of Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home, Bastrop, TX.
