Gladys LaVern Roberson Haws Holifield, age 84, of Corsicana, Texas, beloved mother and grandmother slipped the bond of this earth and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Heritage Oaks West Nursing Home. She was born on December 5, 1927 in Roane, Texas to Delmar and Dora Roberson.
LaVern graduated from Barry High School in 1946. She worked for J.C. Penney in Corsicana for 28 years until she retired in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands; Percy Haws in 1957 and J. B. Holifield.
She is survived by her sons, Dale Haws and wife Marti of Wink, Texas, Ken Haws of Frost, Texas and Doyle Haws of Corsicana, Texas; grandsons, Josh Haws and wife Stacy of Mertens, Texas, Will Haws and wife Chelsie of Odessa, Texas, Clay Haws and wife Sarah of Odessa; granddaughter Kendyl Haws and fiancé Ruben Garza of Milford, Texas; great grandson Bryce Watson of Mertens, Texas; great granddaughter Leighton Haws of Odessa, Texas. LaVern is also survived by many relatives and friends. .
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Corley Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Dresden Cemetery with Rev. Otis Connor officiating. Pallbearers will be Dale Haws, Ken Haws, Doyle Haws, Josh Haws, Will Haws, Clay Haws Ruben Garza and Bryce Watson.
