Elizabeth Gatch Hiss
This is the second day of March 1840 which is my birthday. I am 74 years old to day not expecting to live to see another birthday. I feel a desire to make a present to some of my children. I give to Christianna Hiss one bed & bedding, my rocking chair, one cow and all my cash money, when I die. I give to William Hiss, one bed and bedding my large chair & one cow. I give to Elizabeth Lee Hiss all my plate. I give to Eleanor Jemima Hiss my bureau. I give to Hester Ann Hiss my large chest and twenty dollars. I give to Nancy Hiss one quilt. I give to Providence Hiss my fringe quilt. I give to Mary Crowl my light silk dress & light silk shawl.
Originally most of the Hisses were buried in the family cemetery which was situated on their farm. In the early 1980S all of the remains were moved to Western Cemetery.
