Bessie May Dewberry Ward, 92, passed away on Monday August 17, 2015 at Texas Regional Medical Center, Sunnyvale, TX.

Bessie was born February 18, 1923 in New Hope, Texas (now Sunnyvale) to John Lee Dewberry and Mable Arnet Dewberry.

Bessie, known by many as “Bess”, was married to Judge Theran Ward for over 35 years, and worked for Safeway Warehouse for 34 years.

She was a member of Sunnyvale First Baptist for the majority of her life, and continued to be involved with her Sunday School class throughout her life. Bess enjoyed fellowship with her many friends and fellow church members.

Bess is survived by daughter Cathy Ward Fowler, and daughter-in-law Sherry Ward; grandchildren Gary Don Lambert Jr. and his wife Macy Lambert, Tammie Walker and her husband Rob Walker, Christina Bergman and her husband Greg Bergman, Brandi Altman and her husband Jamie Altman, and Danielle Collier and her husband Nathan Collier.

She was preceded in death by sons Bobby Dean and Tom Ward, and her beloved grandson Tim Reed IV.


Visitation will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in back chapel of Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, 3018 N. Beltline Rd. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00, also in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Sunnyvale, TX.
