JOSEPH R. ACETO, 84, of Mount Pleasant Avenue, retired owner-operator of the Conimicut Fruit Store in Warwick, died Friday at Miriam Hospital, Providence.
He was the husband of Rose (Marcello) Aceto. Born in Providence, the son of the late Alphonse Sr. and Margaret (Tella) Aceto, he had lived in Providence for 30 years. He owned Conimicut Fruit for 35 years, retiring in 1979.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife, he leaves seven sisters, Rose Bongivanni and Susie Mancini, both of Providence, and Elenor Ebner, Margherite Taliercio, Edith Ruggierio, Adeline Barbato and Angilina Greaves, all of North Providence; and two brothers, Gaetano Aceto of Providence and Alphonse Aceto Jr. of Cranston.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from Nardolillo Funeral Home, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Entombment with military honors will be in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum, St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
