Jeanne Brown, longtime resident of Craig, passed away Tuesday, March 24 in Denver, Colorado of complications of pneumonia.

A memorial service and reception are scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday, April 1st at the First Congregational Church, and she will be remembered at the Brown family's summer gathering near Sleepy Cat in the White River valley.

Jeanne Ann Palmer was born in Harlan, Iowa on July 30, 1917. She was raised in Madison, Nebraska by Preston and Lela Palmer with her sister Louise and brother Jack. She attended Wayne State Teachers College at Wayne, Nebraska, and became a teacher in Randolph, Nebraska. She there met Asher Paul Brown, her husband of forty-seven years. They were married in June of 1941 at Madison, Nebraska.

They moved to Craig in 1952, where she resided until 2013 when she moved to Denver.
She worked at the Moffat County clerk and recorder's office and taught in the Craig Public Schools for many years.

She was active in the community, serving and holding membership in Eastern Star, PEO, League of Women Voters, Yampa Valley Golf Course, First Congregational Church, and other community organizations. Her interest in international travel led to a travel business which provided a gateway to the nation and the world for many residents of Craig and northwestern Colorado.

Survivors are: 2 sons, Stephen and Douglas (Denise) of Denver, 4 grandchildren, Paul,
Holly Ramby (Norm), Steven (Beckie), and Rebecca Brown Wright (Douglas); and 5 great-grandsons Benjamin, Mason, Wade, Jonah, and Skyler.
