Lynda Lou Able, a longtime resident of the Naperville area, passed away April 1, 2017 at her home in the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Lisle, IL. Lynda was born on April 8, 1942 to Gladys (nee Algert) and John "Jack" Maier at Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL. Lynda completed Grades 1-8 at Emmanuel Lutheran School in Aurora and was a member of the Church there. Lynda graduated from East Aurora High School. Lynda was an administrative Assistant in the Passenger Department of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad in Chicago until she relocated with her husband, Charles Edward Able, to St. Paul, MN. Lynda and Charlie were active members of the First Covenant Church in St. Paul. Following Charlie's death in August 1983, Lynda and their daughter, Dawn, returned to Illinois in 1986, residing in Naperville. Lynda then worked at Central DuPage Hospital where she credentialed physicians until her retirement in 2002. Each year since 2005 Lynda participated in fundraisers for Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Research. These events included walks in Naperville and Chicago, IL, Santa Monica, CA, Long Island, NY and Boston, MA. This year's Naperville Walk is Sunday, July 23, 2017. Lynda was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Naperville where she lovingly participated in numerous International Mission trips. Lynda was also a dedicated servant in the Friday Folders ministry every Friday morning when members worked together to prepare worship materials, bulletins and monthly newsletters. Lynda also volunteered with the Fusion Special Needs Ministry whose mission is to reach and serve families impacted by special needs and create an environment for them to discover and embrace a relationship with Jesus Christ. Lynda was passionate about traveling, reading and spending time with her many friends. Lynda was an extraordinary person, a phenomenal friend a remarkable human being...a gift to those privileged to know her. Lynda lived an exemplary life influenced by her unfailing faith. Lynda encountered the hurdles in her life with grace and strength, was non-judgmental and was generous beyond measure with her talents and resources. Lynda is survived by her two greatest gifts who brought so much joy to her life, her two grandsons, Daniel Quentin Pryor and Caleb James Pryor; her daughter, Dawn (Myles) Able Pryor; her sister-in-law, Patricia Able of Marlborough, CT; her nephews, Edward (Darlene) Able of Naples, FL and John (Eileen) Able of West Hartford, CT; and great-nieces, Emma Able of West Hartford, CT and Colleen Able of Weare, NH. Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys (nee Algert) and John "Jack" Maier; her husband, Charles Edward Able; and brother-in-alw, Warren Able.

Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Visitation will also be Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1310 Shepherd Dr., Naperville. After cremation, a private interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in St. Paul, MN.
