Sergeant Larry Holmes McLaughlin was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SGT McLaughlin served our country until January 4th, 1968 in Hua Nghia, South Vietnam. He was 23 years old and was not married. It was reported that Larry died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. Larry was born on January 2nd, 1945 in Raleigh, North Carolina. SGT Mc Laughlin is on panel 33E, line 037 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.
He was the son of Mr and Mrs Paul McLaughlin, Hall Blvd, Route #1, Garner, NC.
He served with Company A, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, "The Wolfhounds", 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
