Jim was the son of James Rodden and Doris Emiley (St. John) Thornton. He was born in 1933 in Stanislaus, California. His family moved to Oakhurst, where Jim attended 8th grade at Oakhurst Elementary School and then went on to Raymond High School. He joined US Army in 1953-1956, discharged as a Corporal. When he left the Army, he went to Fresno Community College for 3 years. He became a Diesel Mechanic from 1956 thru 1988. Jim married Beulah Ellen Kiser, in Oakhurst. They had three children, Marie E. (Ingram), James R. and Jack B. He retired as a Master Mechanic.
Jim was 88 years old, his death precedes his son Jack. He is survived by his wife Beulah, his daughter Marie, his son James, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. Also. his sister Geraldine Weber.
