Retired U.S. Army CWO3 AUGUSTA, Ga. - John Thomas 'Mac' McCafferty, 73, entered into rest Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 16, 2003, at Poteet Funeral Home, South Chapel, 3465 Peach Orchard Road with the Rev. Bobby Renew officiating. The family will gather and receive friends after the service.

Mr. McCafferty is survived by wife, Joan T. McCafferty; seven children, Tammie Shoupe, Chris Katsapis, Joey Corr, Teresa McCafferty, Tom McCafferty, Tammy Jo Odum and Robert McCafferty; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Krugh.

Mr. McCafferty was a native of Springfield, Ohio and was a son of the late Robert Carl and Della Mae McCafferty. Mr. McCafferty was retired from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service. After his military career he was employed as an Automotive Instructor with the South Carolina Department of Corrections and was also a Shriner and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 412.
