Mr. Gaston passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his residence. He was born on December 31, 1939 in Alexander City, Alabama to Wood Gaston and Ethel Marie Gaston. Dad was a wonderful husband, father, brother, friend, and a rock to all who knew him. He not only talked the talk, he walked the walk. We all could always count on him for any and everything. He was a very active member of Wayside Baptist Church. He never met a stranger or anyone he didn't love. He loved babies to 100 year olds. His favorite things were working outside in the dirt and gardening. He had a gift of growing things, but he always prayed over anything he planted. He said he could plant it, but only God could make it grow. He was the Best! There is just so much.... Oh yeah, he loved his farm animals like they were part of the family. He was the kindest hearted man anyone could meet. Not only did he have a sincere love for all people, but he also loved his animals. He lived life with a passion that our world needs more of. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lela Carolyn Gaston of Alexander City, sons, Jeffrey Lynn Gaston (Selina) of Dacula, GA, Dan Gaston (Benita) of Alexander City, and Joshua Caleb Gaston of Alexander City; daughter, Kimberly G Oliver of Brandon, FL; grandchildren, Caroline Williams (Greg), Nicholas Gaston, Betsy Oliver, Gabby Gaston, Lilla Oliver, Luke Oliver, and Aubrey Gaston; great-grandchildren, Maxson Williams, and Wesley Williams; brothers, Wood Gaston, Jr., Ronnie Gaston, Dwight Gaston, and Elliott Gaston; sisters, Laura Evans and Jenny Fuller; and sister-in-laws, Iris Dean and Mary McConnell.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Marie Gaston, father, Wood Gaston, Sr.
