Ora Dee Ingram, 90 of Mesquite, Texas, entered into her eternal home on January 4, 2017.

Born on March 20, 1926, in Paris, Texas, she was the daughter of H.B. "Boots" and Flora Lewis.

Dee married Bobby Ingram in Texarkana on June 25, 1950. They made a striking couple. She was tall, thin & fair skinned with fire-red hair, and he was athletic in stature with jet-black hair and eyes with very dark skin, hence the nickname Bobby Chief. She was a dedicated registered nurse and he was an electrician by trade and cowboy by choice. It was love at first sight.

Dee knew from a very early age that God called her to be a nurse. She attended nursing school at the Sanitarium of Paris where she worked full shifts in the hospital while living in the nurses' quarters on property. She continued her nursing career in the hospital setting in Paris and Dallas. She then went to work in a private practice for Dr. John Stack and Dr. Lew Begley in Mesquite until she became a school nurse for the Mesquite Independent School District where she remained until her retirement 24 years later.

During her lifetime, she was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Paris, Liberty Baptist Church in Mesquite, Church on the Rock in Rockwall, and Galloway Avenue Baptist Church in Mesquite. One of her greatest joys was caring for others, and after retiring from a career where she served her community, she continued faithfully volunteering at her church and various charities. She loved to travel and was years ahead of her time in understanding nutrition and health. Her loved ones fondly remember, "She took care of herself, eating twigs and berries and all sorts of seeds, exercising regularly by walking three miles a day and practicing yoga before any of us even knew what yoga was."

She was preceded in death by Bobby "Chief" Ingram, her husband of 31 years; son, Steve Ingram (1951 - 2008) #53249351

Her life will be remembered and celebrated by her daughter, Cynthia Benefield; sister, Bootsie Dodson; grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon Benefield and wife, Jill, Brian Benefield and wife, Brooke, and Matt Ingram and wife, Carrie. She had 7 great-grandchildren -- Scout Benefield, Allie Grace, Berkley & Knox Benefield, and Chance, Maisie and Ethan Ingram. She left behind countless nieces and nephews and many friends who felt like family.
